Another clean and simple card challenge at Less is More this week. We’ve been set the theme of ‘occupations’. I trawled through my stash and decided to go with the occupation of ‘gardener’… It wasn’t that tricky to choose as I only had one set of stamps that were suitable! Here’s my card:
One theme that recurs regularly in clean and simple card making challenges is ‘along the edge’. You have four to choose from, but the elements on the card need to predominantly be arranged on the edge of the card blank. This leaves lots of white space on the card which can be daunting for some. This week’s theme over at AAA Cards also throws in the wild card of ‘your country’. With the design team being from all over the world, we’re sure to have some fabulous cards for your inspiration. I’ve been working in my Bible this week, adding five more journaling illustrations. As I was looking for new verses to journal, a theme of ‘peace’ developed. As normal, there is a free download printable if you would like to trace and colour your own versions of the illustrations.
A fortnight has passed and it’s time for another clean and simple card challenge over at Less is More. This time, it’s a colour theme and they’ve chosen a classic combo of pink and gold. It’s not a one layer card this time, so I’ve taken advantage of that by adding my elements on foam pads to give a little height and extra interest:
Though the theme is ‘anything goes’ it’s important to remember that over at AAA Cards the challenge is to keep it clean and simple. I’ve incorporated the optional theme of ‘spring animals’ into my CAS card. It’s one of the more easy challenges to take part in – why not have a go?
I don’t think I could have come up with a much simpler card than this for the latest challenge at Less is More. It’s a recipe and the ingredients are ‘a bit of bling’.
It’s been several years since I last did the Wanderlust online course (2016). It has gone from strength to strength, and this time it offers a year of weekly prompts, lessons and inspiration for mixed media art journaling. Unfortunately, it’s too late to enrol for this year’s course, but it is worth watching out for the early bird offers for next year which are usually 50% off the regular price.
The themed sections start with an introductory week, outlining the studio supplies and techniques that are coming up in the next six weeks. Then follows a weekly tutorial from guest tutors furthering exploration of the theme and showing off their individual styles during their tutorial. This can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half of teaching!

This week’s clean and simple card challenge at AAA Cards is to use the sketch provided to inspire your own makes. There’s the added theme of ‘silhouette’ to throw into the mix. Here’s my design team card…
There’s another challenge for clean and simple card making at Less is More. This time we’re asked to make a one layer card – which means just that. No die cuts, very minimal embellishments and no matting of designs either. As an added challenge, any sentiment must be ‘just one word’. Cue lots of masking and overprinting!
