AAA Cards DT: Shaker Card (#216)

Oh boy… somehow I have managed to avoid/not get round to making a shaker card. For the uninitiated, a shaker card typically has glitter/confetti/hundreds and thousands in a clear window that, well, shake and mix when the card is moved. The latest challenge at AAA Cards is to use a stack of macaroons as the colour theme for a clean and simple card, with the option to make it into a shaker card. So, without further ado, I present my very first shaker card:

I started by die cutting the sentiment from the yellow card and then backing it with acetate. Once I had done that, it was possible to stick down the loop innards on the ‘h’, ‘a’, ‘k’ and ‘s’. I built a dam from sticky foam tape before (over)filling it with my sprinkles. I then backed it with another sheet of acetate before sticking it down to the card.

If I were to make it again, I’d probably fill it less, so there was more room to shake and back it with a contrasting colour (perhaps a vibrant pink?). Still, as a first go, I think I did ok…

Used for this shaker card

  • ‘thanks’ die – no manufacturer identified
  • Bazzill card stock
  • Acetate from OHP (remember them?) film
  • Suze Weinburg’s Beadazzles: Tutu
  • Stampendous Frantage Crushed Glass Glitter: Lavender / Steel Blue
  • C6 card blank
