Check in at AAA Cards for their latest clean and simple card challenge: use circles in your design. The design team have interpreted this theme in numerous ways and it’s worth having a look for your inspiration. Here’s my take on the challenge:
Single-colour cards can be really tricky on two levels: creating contrast to make elements stand out from the card blank and photographing that contrast effectively. The next AAA Cards’ clean and simple card challenge is to make a white-on-white design using no other colours. Here’s my design team sample:

The last challenge of the year at AAA Cards is to create a clean and simple card based on a moodboard with the optional extra of making it Christmasy. There are plenty of elements to choose from on the moodboard – you can pick colours, themes, shapes and textures. I went with a quick card based on the picture of the baubles. It’s another challenge over at the clean and simple challenge blog, Less is More. This time, we’re invited to make our projects on the theme of ‘outdoors’. There were many choices within my (extensive) stash, but since I am working in watercolour in an online course I am following, this stamp stood out…
It’s a sketch challenge over at AAA Cards blog this week – use the supplied card outline to inspire your design with the optional theme of ‘thankful’. My card is possibly the quickest and simplest I have done for the design team and I’m wondering if it will be inspiring or not! Still, it keeps to the sketch and is clean and simple so it counts 🙂
With Less is More setting a new challenge this week, there’s some healthy ambiguity about the recipe given. We’re asked to emboss… The ambiguity is whether to heat emboss or dry emboss? I went with the latter to make this wedding card:
For those unfamiliar with card making terms, a sketch refers to a predetermined layout as a guide for your card. The latest challenge at AAA Cards is for a clean and simple card following such a sketch (pic below). Sketches are great recipes for those new to, or not confident in, card making and scrapbooking. There’s the optional extra to use flowers. Here’s my take on the theme:
It’s a challenge of ones at Less is More this week – just one image and just one layer. The theme forces a very much no-frills clean and simple card. I had to rummage in my stash again to find a suitable stamp. Some were too big for a C6 card blank, others might have been considered to be more than one image (I was particularly thinking along those lines when looking at collage stamps). Thus, here’s my clean and simple, just one image, one layer card:
One theme that recurs regularly in clean and simple card making challenges is ‘along the edge’. You have four to choose from, but the elements on the card need to predominantly be arranged on the edge of the card blank. This leaves lots of white space on the card which can be daunting for some. This week’s theme over at AAA Cards also throws in the wild card of ‘your country’. With the design team being from all over the world, we’re sure to have some fabulous cards for your inspiration.
