Come & Craft/Stashbuster Clinic – extra daytime session added

Facebook-stash-event-bannerFor a trial period, I’m going to open up the studio for a daytime Come & Craft/Stashbuster Clinic session on Wednesday mornings between 10am and 12:30pm (£5 per session). The Tuesday evening sessions have proved popular, but some don’t like coming out during the dark hours or when buses are less frequent. If the morning session proves as popular, I’ll continue them 🙂

For the uninitiated, the sessions are informal, with refreshments and some materials included. You can either bring along your unfinished projects and complete them in the creative environment of the studio, or you might choose to bring along stash and kit that you don’t know what to do with to get ideas and inspiration. If there are techniques or materials that you’d like to learn more about, it’s also a time for experimentation and play.

Booking is essential to reserve a place, and can be done online via my Workshops tab above.

Workshop news…

For those that haven’t noticed yet, I’ve added some new dates for next year on the Workshops tab:

Come & Craft sessions on a Tuesday night continue to be popular – recent projects include  napkin decoupage, dry brushing techniques, image transfers and glittering on acetate.

The Come & Craft Christmas Party will be 11am-4pm on Saturday 4th January 2014 – perfect for boosting your creativity and do bring your crafty presents for show and tell 😉

And on Saturday 1st February 2014, 10am-4pm, sees an introduction to Zentangle Inspired Art including a book of my tangle patterns and tangling pens to take away.

For full details and to book, head on over to the Workshops page 🙂
And if you’d like any of the workshops on a weekday, this can often be arranged, just let me know 🙂

Christmas Art Journal Workshop

Some how, in between packing boxes in the studio, completing Day 1 of CC102 and catching up with various admin jobs, I’ve managed to snatch some moments to work on December’s workshop project – a hand made Christmas Art Journal. For more details and to book your place, go to my Workshops Page.

Come & Craft / Stash Buster Clinics

Facebook-stash-event-bannerI’ve just had a steep learning curve learning how to make Photoshop data merge to create date buttons… all in pursuit of allowing you to book to join my Tuesday evening craft sessions! A full list of dates between now and Christmas are now available to book online over at my workshops page.

And don’t forget I have an Open Studio over the bank holiday weekend, from 10am to 4pm each day. Just drop-in, preview the upcoming workshops, sign up and pay 🙂

Two new workshops added

I’ve just updated my workshops page with two new sessions:

Make Your Own Embellishments – Saturday 5th October (£25)

A day of demonstrations and practical hands-on experience making your own embellishments for card making or scrapbooking: includes tips and tricks for colouring, moulding, shrink plastic, customised ‘metal’ tags, paper and fabric flowers, colour coordination and embellishing die cut lettering. If you have a layout in mind, bring your photos and make your own bespoke embellishments to match.

Painting with Powertex – Saturday 2nd November (£50)

African SceneIn this session we’ll be using Powertex (a specialist pigmented liquid fabric hardener) as a paint. You’ll explore building up layers and texture on canvas and on a frame, making a complementary air dry clay to create figures or shapes to embellish your piece, and learn techniques to colour your pieces further with powered pigments.

For more details, pictures and to book online, go to my
workshops page. Full terms and conditions are also available using the link at the bottom of the same page.

Shadowpainting with Distress Reinkers

I’ve liked shadowpainting for some time now, but never seem to use the latex-based masking fluid before it all gunges up in the bottle. It helpfully says on the label to dilute with ammonia to get it liquid again… but I just don’t seem to have that lying around!

Meanwhile, I’ve used WOW! Bright White embossing powder on watercolour paper to do much the same thing – it’s a lot quicker as well using a stamp rather than tracing patterns with latex gunk and waiting for that to set. I’ve used Distress Inks (from reinkers) to colour each of the images. I’ll be teaching the technique at the Manic Stamper Craft Club in Leicester on Saturday 🙂

Workshops: another date for your diary

Facebook-stash-event-banner

I’ve posted details of my next workshop over on the Workshops page. It’s another of my (soon to be weekly) Tuesday Craft Evening/Stashbuster Clinics for the grand total of just £5, with refreshments and reasonable use of equipment and materials included. It’s an informal evening where you can bring an unfinished object and work in the studio with other crafters, or bring along kit that you would like ideas/instructions on how to use.

This is for Tuesday, 30th July, 7:30-10pm – full details on the workshops page.
