Just before I cleared the decks in preparation for the arrival of a laser cutter that I have been impatiently waiting for (for two and a half years!), I cranked out a few more drypoint prints for cards more suitable for those not into the floral elements on my previous ones.
I’ve loved Celtic knots for a long time and have featured them in my quilting, altered art and zentangles a couple of times. It’s an altogether different exercise to create a border and tree of life illustration and then etching and printing them!
I used Adobe Illustrator to sketch out the knots, outlining stroked lines to get the tramline outlines. It was then simple to pop the ribbons under and over using the fabulous Dynamic Sketch plugin from Astute Graphics. A quick review in outline mode and it was ready to transfer to the etching plate.
