Art Journal Page: Word Of The Day

I have a new journal, a Toned Gray Strathmore art journal (5½ x 8″). I chose the grey background as I have previously enjoyed the mid-tone which allows both black and white work top. I wanted to explore the journaling side of the art journal and came up with a ‘word of the day’ theme – choosing a word that described either what I had done, or how I felt. The doodling on the facing page started to reflect the words and was completed a little at a time each day.

Representations of bounce-back-ability: elastic and springs

Spikes for the pain, and white ibuprofen pills

Artistic representation of the meandering walk alongside the Thames, with the Globe Theatre, London Eye, Gherkin, Shard, Grater and Walkie Talkie buildings featured. There was a guy providing kids with a stream of giant soap bubbles.

Defining my art journaling

Used in this spread:

  • Lamy Safari fountain pen, EF and M nibs using Noodler’s Bulletproof Ink and Platinum Carbon Ink
  • Uniball Signo Broad white gel pen
  • Pilot G-2 07 white gel pen
  • Cuttlelola Electric Dotspen – brilliant for stippling 🙂
