Painting with Glitter (for Creative Expressions)

Christmas DecsHappy Christmas! Hope you’re having a great day 🙂

For my final Creative Expressions DT post this month, I’ve used the fabulous ‘Rangoli’ singles stamp from their Henna range of mounted rubber stamps. The image is printed onto acetate using the Cosmic Shimmer Flake & Glitter glue before being ‘painted’ with the Cosmic Shimmer Polished Silk Glitters. Each image is mounted either side of a cardboard circle so that you can change your colour scheme each year to match that of the rest of your decorations. A quick make while everyone else is having a post-turkey snooze 😉

You will need:
Creative Expressions Singles Stamp: Henna Rangoli
Cosmic Shimmer Polished Silk Glitters: Silver Chrome/Brilliant Blue/Western Blue
Cosmic Shimmer Flake & Glitter Glue
Inkssentials Cut-n-Dry Foam
Grime Boss Wipes

You will also need acetate sheets, coloured card, wire/string

  1. Squeeze a small amount of the glue onto a non-stick craft sheet and dab a small piece of Cut-n-Dry foam into it to get a smooth covering. Dab this like you would ink onto the stamp and print it onto the acetate. You may repeat this several times as the adhesive will stay sticky on the acetate, and indeed will benefit from being slightly dry for the next step. Once you’ve stamped all your images, clean down the stamp and craft sheet immediately with a Grime Boss wipe (or wash thoroughly with water). The Cut-n-Dry foam pad can be kept in a polybag and used again.
  2. Using a dry clean paintbrush, pick up some Silver Chrome glitter and ‘paint’ it onto the outer edge of the stamped image. Blend in the Brilliant Blue and then Western Blue as you work toward the middle. Once all the image is covered with glitter, burnish over with your finger before tapping off the excess.
  3. Cut a circle round the image, and then punch a hole through the top of each disc. Cut a disc from the coloured card and sandwich it between two glitter discs – you may prefer to have the glitter side facing in (as in pic) or out. Add string or wire as a hanger.
