Art Journaling Session: Wrinkled Resist

Inevitably, and inadvertently, it’s very easy when using waxed paper to protect other pages in your journal, and heat tools on the page you’re working on, to melt wax onto places you don’t want. Inspired by this faux pas, I have deliberately used wax paper in this month’s art journaling session for a wrinkled resist technique.

Art Journal Page: Pick A Stick Challenge (June)

I’ve snuck this creation in between finishing a commissioned art journal, and making the samples for tomorrow’s fabric printing/painting workshop. The Pick A Stick Challenge for the uninitiated is ten techniques or journal prompts pulled at random by one of the four coordinators of the challenge, and you must then create your page using those steps in the order in which they were pulled. This is what I came up with for June’s ten sticks 🙂

Mixed Media Still Life #3

It’s Friday, and another mixed media lesson 🙂

This week we had to do a candle wax resist rendition of the still life – clear wax on whitish paper made the initial stages very tricky. However, as the dye wash revealed, I did fairly well! A bit of charcoal and a smidge of oil pastel here and there, and I was done.
