Day Five: playing with triangles again today resulted in something akin to layered baubles. Or odd shaped onions. Or may be several cyclopses laying on their sides. Or strange flying saucers. Any how, it’s today’s offering for tangling fun 🙂
Tomorrow’s penultimate dose of tangling instruction: ‘Fantails’.
Day Four: almost as painful as treading on one of those Danish bricks that inspired this simple pattern. My wrist started aching after drawing three panels of tiny circles! The rule for this one is to stick to the traditional brick sizes when drawing in your grid in step two. Those that like to tangle in colour will like the shading opportunities presented here.

Day Three: ok, I was sort of hungry when I played with this pattern. It looks pretty simple and random, and it is. But there was a sort of rule I was trying to stick to: start with a nobble, squiggle, end with a nobble. Draw your next nobble by the one you’ve just finished and squiggle again. Ideally, if you stick to the rule, your nobbles should always be in pairs. I clearly didn’t manage to stick to the rules… must have been the hunger 😉

Day Two: simply zig zag lines. Sort of similar to ‘Jump’ but this one doesn’t have the verticals. Lots of different ways to shade this one 🙂

Day One: a touch of ancient Greece for this one. I started playing with triangles as I don’t think there are enough triangle-based tangle patterns out there… filling in the gaps led me to this geometric pattern.

The cover is hand-tangled with my own designs [it’s taken ages!] and will be personalised with the initial letter of the winner’s choosing before being sealed with a gloss varnish finish. It’s a hand-crafted book [which took ages too!], with hard cover and sewn and glued spine.
Inside are colour copies of all my tangle patterns from January to June 2011, and the eight tags will contain hand-drawn tangles, with tips on shading and may be even a unique and unpublished, exclusive tangle pattern.

Day Seven: it’s like ’24’ all over again… This time it’s a variation on the start point of ‘Nave’, but then goes off into curves rather than points and we find ourselves with victorian-esque shaped tiles.
There… I hope you’ve enjoyed the anticipation and guessing from the names what the patterns might be. Who knows, I might just do this again. In the meantime, I’ll be publishing all seven patterns to my Flickr site and the Freehand Doodle Patterns group.
