A new theme starts at AAA Cards clean and simple card challenge blog today and runs for the next two weeks. This time we are asking for cards that feature a tag or a ticket. There are some great inspiration cards from the design team, and here’s my take on the theme:
Another sketch challenge has been set at AAA Cards this week. Use the design to guide your creation of a clean and simple card suitable for a teen. I struggled to find something to fit the theme and eventually raided a different stash for inspiration. With the popularity of proms, I thought this ‘couture’ stamp would be suitable. The guide sketch is below.
Time for another clean and simple card challenge at AAA Cards. This week we have a sketch to work to (see below). This is a guide to a card layout rather than drawing your own. The optional extra is to make the theme suitable for a baby. Here’s my card as part of the design team’s inspirations:
Today’s new challenge at AAA Cards is to make a monochrome card. Monochrome in this context does not necessarily mean without colour – different shades of the same colour are allowed. I chose to go with a greyscale monochrome and produced this masculine card:
Challenge time again at Less is More… We’re asking to see your clean and simple card designs on the theme of ‘B is for Beach’. You may remember a beach challenge a few weeks ago for a different challenge blog where I chose to go for a less traditional interpretation. For this challenge, I have used a more obvious inspiration:
Summer is almost here, and in anticipation of a heatwave AAA Cards‘ latest challenge is to make a clean and simple card on the theme of ‘everything beach’. I’m a little more of a pragmatist, live in the UK and anticipate foul weather when I go to the coast. Foregoing buckets and spades and fancy parasols, I found this previously unused stamp deep in my stash and created this:
The last challenge of the year at AAA Cards is to create a clean and simple card based on a moodboard with the optional extra of making it Christmasy. There are plenty of elements to choose from on the moodboard – you can pick colours, themes, shapes and textures. I went with a quick card based on the picture of the baubles. The latest challenge over at the AAA Cards blog is to create a card with elements along one edge with the optional extra of ‘rainbow’. One advantage of working as far ahead as I do (I’m writing this in July) is that you can make sure you don’t clash with other DT members by getting your design in first! I chose to go with one of my favourite rainbow quotes and a basic illustration to complement it.
I don’t normally ‘do’ Halloween stuff, but the optional theme over at AAA Cards this week for their clean and simple card challenge is ‘Halloween cats’. I don’t particularly ‘do’ cats either – I’m a dog person – so I dropped that part of the challenge and went with a straight Halloween theme instead. This stamp from Tim Holtz was perfect for this, or a pirate card, and I’ve just coloured it in with alcohol markers.
The next challenge at Less is More is to make a one-layer card using a self-drawn frame. I went a bit mad and hand-drew the whole thing. The finished piece looks like it is layered because of shading using an alcohol marker on the bottom edge of the mandala – a very effective way of adding depth without layers. The background is a masked, dense layer of blended distress ink over which I’ve used a black pigment marker and Stabilo pencils for shading.
