Bible Journaling: New Year 2021

A new year arrives and it seemed a fitting moment to do some Bible journaling. I have to admit that without a group to prepare for, my journaling has lapsed – since April! It was lovely to be designing again and I’ve been adding to my font and design collection. I’ve kept the same style to allow me to share the printable versions and as always, I think it’s the colour that makes the design pop. A printable template is available for free from my shop.

I’ve chosen verses that offer some encouragement as we start the new year. They are mainly on the theme of ‘new’ – I had to start my search somewhere. I also admit to choosing some on the basis of whether there were any competing completed Bible journaling illustrations on the same page.

Art Journal Page: Hope

Hope

I wasn’t at all happy with my finished page yesterday… so I tried again today using what I had learnt from my experimentation. Keeping with the ‘3+1’ theme, I switched the same complementary colours. I am so much happier with the outcome – a cleaner, fresher, more impactful page.

More Art in Worship

As previously mentioned, I am clearing out my study – I’ve also cleared out an old PC. Whilst doing this, I came across my original sketches for some artwork I did back in 2008 whilst at Robert Hall Memorial Baptist Church in Leicester. Again, I sketched out the idea whilst the service was taking place, and this time took the sketches back home and created some digital art (Photoshop/Illustrator) which was then printed as A0 poster size. As far as I know, they’re still on display in the church. I also know that one of them ended up being given to Rothley Baptist Church as well. Here are the ‘before and after’ pics:
