You may have heard of a way-side pulpit – the posters with a meaningful, or sometimes witty, quote or remark designed to catch the eye and prompt thought as you walk or drive past. Well, at my church this has been taken to another level… a pee-side pulpit. Taking note of the eye level advertising that seems to be in public conveniences, similar frames are strategically placed in the building’s toilets. I’ve been asked to contribute toward the ‘verse of the month’ designs and for January came up with this:

Creative Jumpstart 2021: The first week
I signed up to do Creative Jumpstart 2021 back in November. What with Covid and no studio groups to prep for, my creativity has had a minor slump and I’ve not even had the mojo to create for the fun of it. Creative Jumpstart has a daily 10-15 minute tutorial or inspiration video to watch and so far it has included monoprinting, art journaling, illustration, watercolour and collage as part of the ‘storyteller’ theme. I’ve had a go at all but one so far and it’s been great to challenge my prejudices against some media (watercolour!) and to try out new media. Here are my attempts at the first week of projects:

If you’d like to come to the workshop on 4th February, there are spaces available. For more details, see my workshops page, or email me to book your space.

Rich Plum Elements (for Creative Expressions)
I’m still working with the That Special Touch Art Deco Elements stencil for this week’s project. I’ve used the Cosmic Shimmer Rich Plum Sparkling Texture Paste, with the Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Plum Pearlescent PVA for the Watts-dots and finally mounted it all on Rich Plum card stock. Gorgeous, even though I do say so myself! Continue reading
