Trimcraft Maker: Modern Floral Coin Tray

It seemed only sensible to create a full papier-mâché object – after all decoupage is just one last layer of the process. I chose to make a coin tray using the Modern Floral decoupage paper. The matt adhesive says on the bottle that it will stick to almost any surface… I can attest to that as even cling film was grabbed firmly making one of the usual steps in moulding the papier-mâché a little tricky. Again, I rushed the process (which I have corrected in the list below) which probably made things more difficult for myself. Drying overnight has left the tray very rigid and I’m sure it will hold up in use. Having used the glue, I think it would probably stick firmly enough to the microwave meal tray itself if you didn’t want to do papier-mâché.

Trimcraft Maker: Geometric Dreamcatcher

The makes continue… I’ve finished off my pack of Rose Gold Geometric decoupage paper making this mobile/dreamcatcher. Two layers of the decoupage paper are surprisingly resilient whilst still being semi-translucent, making this a good suncatcher as well. I tried taking a pic against a window, but it didn’t turn out well… so you have it against a white background instead.

Trimcraft Maker: Modern Marks art journal page

I’m on a roll! Today’s make is an art journal page featuring the new First Edition Deco Maché decoupage paper in the Modern Marks design. I decided to augment the marks and colour matched the marks to Distress Paint colours (listed below). The paper behaved itself today – I used less of the glue and the wrinkles were kept to a minimum as a result. It’s certainly a lot harder to work with a sheet rather than pieces, so bear this in mind. Time-lapse video below.

Trimcraft Maker: Rose Gold Tabbed Journal

I can’t remember the last time I made a mini-book from scratch… I suspect it was one of my travel journals, and the last one of those was over a year ago. I spent the night (literally) dreaming up things to do with the other decoupage papers from my Trimcraft goodies. One that stuck was to make a mini-book using the Deco Maché Rose Gold Geometric paper as the cover. Turns out that I am a little out of practice, but cobbled this together this evening:

I love the muted pastel tones in the background and the foiled papers look splendid when not being photographed!

ProMarker Challenge: Week 527 – for a child

It’s the weekly colouring challenge over at Passion for ProMarkers and the theme this time is ‘for a child/children images’. I have a number of potential stamps that would have done the trick, but I’ve gone with the cute Tatty Teddy. I’ve chosen ProMarker colours to pretty well match the background paper.

Bible Journaling 8: Illuminated letters

The next Bible journaling session at The Studio (10th February 2020) features as its theme ‘illuminated letters’. I’ve long loved the mediaeval manuscripts with the fancy drop caps and the shiny gold gilding. Could this be done in modern-day Bibles? Yup! Here are four examples and bonus conventional illustration:

Less is More: One Layer Card

Another challenge blog, another challenge! This time, it’s the Less Is More challenge to do a one layer card with the focal point off centre. In card making, one layer cards are quite tricky – you have one time to get it right, and if you’re layering or positioning stamps it’s easy to misprint and have to start all over again! Of course, you only get to see the final take…
