Bible Journaling: God’s Guidance (BJ-33)

As promised, despite no longer holding Bible journaling sessions at The Studio, I have continued to journal in my own Bible. Here are five more verses, this time on the loose theme of ‘God’s Guidance’. Given there are so few pages left in my journaling Bible, I enlisted the help of ChatGPT to choose verses specifically from these gaps. I cut and pasted the results into my notes and somewhat lazily didn’t check that the translation was the same. Happily, the meanings are identical to my NIV even if the exact wording isn’t the same.

Some creative process thoughts

I also enlisted AI to help with the illustrations for my chosen verses. It always takes ages to tune the text prompt and several iterations before my ‘vision’ is met. Several of these results needed further editing afterwards as they weren’t quite right. A speech bubble underneath the person was the only way I could think of to depict someone speaking behind, without blocking the view of the person and the way ahead. For the eternal rock, I attempted several ways of representing the flow of time and eventually settled with the image of the seasons passing. For ‘perfection’ I chose the foodie/chef hand gesture – I’m not sure how this translates across cultures, but felt it was, well, perfect for the illustration. And finally, the circular scene was a clean and simple take on the verse, to which I added the colour and walking to the light.
