AAA Cards challenge: January’s sketch

Well, here’s a thing. I’m no longer on the AAA Cards design team but I thought I’d join in their challenges now and then when I wanted something creative to do that wasn’t ‘work’. January’s sketch design is the first for the year – a prompt for your card layout. Here’s my entry:

AAA Cards Challenge: January's sketch

Making notes

I started by stencilling distress inks to make the blocks. After that, I dabbed matt multi-medium over the ink and puffed glitter over the top. Taking off the stencil, I found the multi-medium had sucked under the stencil and the ink had run past the ‘edges’ of the blocks. Once it was dry, I hid the over-run with heat-embossed gold outlines. This was a bit hit-and-miss too so I blended those edges with a gold paint marker to fill in the gaps. Finally, I stamped and embossed the sentiment, cut it out with a punch and then adhered it with an extra thick foam pad. It sort of works, but it’s certainly not my best work!

  1. so glad you joined in Neil, it’s gorgeous. Thank you for playing at the AAA Card Challenges, we have a new one tomorrow, see you again then?

  2. Neil, thanks for playing along with the gang at AAA Cards still and wow you have been hiding your “pink-side” that is so vibrant. I do love the pink and gold. You have enabled me and I will add a gold Posca pen to my stash next time I’m at my local art store.
