It’s the time of year that Halloween stuff seems to have taken over. As mentioned in previous annual posts, I’m not a fan but inevitably there are ‘spooky’ themes for card maker challenges. This week sees AAA Cards asking for spooky cards as long as they are kept clean and simple. I did my best for my design team card, but I can’t see a use for the finished sample…
I looked through my stamps and found I only had four mini-blueprint-style spooky themes from a Stampendous/Tim Holtz release. I carried on looking through my stash as I wasn’t inspired by them and found a few stencils I thought I could use. Using different ink types allowed apparent layering of the elements in a single layer. I felt that the design wasn’t clean and simple enough (not enough white space) so I mounted the panel on a larger card size than normal to address this.
Used for this spooky card
- Stampers Anonymous / Tim Holtz mini-layering stencils: Halloween [THMS027], Grime [THMS130]
- That’s Crafty! Dinky Stencil: Flight of the bats [tc035]
- Ranger / Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Hickory Smoke
- Ranger / Tim Holtz Distress Oxides: Hickory Smoke / Black Soot
- 8×8″ card blank
