Today’s new challenge at AAA Cards is to make a monochrome card. Monochrome in this context does not necessarily mean without colour – different shades of the same colour are allowed. I chose to go with a greyscale monochrome and produced this masculine card:
When did ProMarkers get so expensive? I needed to replace one of my greys which has clearly dried out despite being hermetically sealed while stored. Far cheaper per pen to buy a set, but I don’t need the rest!
I used a multi-tone ink pad to stamp my image before heat-setting it and adding some monochromatic shading with ProMarkers. Hopefully, you can see the ink fading from the black tones on the right to the lighter greys on the left. No worries if not…
As the card blank is not a true uniform black, I have edged the white panel with a deeper black piece of paper to add a little more depth and detail.
Used for this masculine card
- Carabelle Studio art stamp: Steampunk Man Portrait [A60064E]
- Hero Arts Ombré ink pad: Grey to Black
- Memento ink pad: Tuxedo Black
- Bespoke laser cut sentiment stamp
- Letraset / Winsor & Newton ProMarkers: Cool Grey 1-5
- A5 black card blank
Gorgeous!
