AAA Cards DT: Moodboard #222

Yet another challenge at AAA Cards this week! The theme this time is a moodboard (shown below) with the optional twist of it being a get well card. For those unfamiliar with making a clean and simple card from a moodboard, you can choose any element to base your design on, e.g. colours. I’ve taken inspiration from the bottle in the bottom middle image and found a never been used stamp in my stash to match:

Used in this get well card

  • Ranger Archival Ink: Jet Black
  • Stampers Anonymous / Tim Holtz Cling Stamp: Get well soon [Simple Sayings CMS155]
  • Graphic 45 / Hampton Art cling stamps (bottle and label)
  • Winsor & Newton watercolour paints
  • Posca PC-1M white paint pen

making notes

Start by stamping the bottle directly onto the card, then stamp the label over the top. Briefly heat set the archival ink. Gently curve the sentiment on an acrylic block and stamp under the. bottle. Paint over the bottle with watercolours and add highlights with the Posca pen. When adding the shadow, make a mix of dark brown and dark blue to make a grey, water it down and paint it next to the bottle. Drag the colour away from the base with a water brush or wet watercolour brush – each time you swipe you’ll take a little of the grey and dilute it making a realistic fall off of the shadow.

Extra making note: use archival ink as this is waterproof when dry and will not bleed when using water-based mediums over it.
