LIM DT: Silhouette

This week’s theme at Less is More clean and simple challenge blog is ‘silhouette’. I considered a traditional take on the profile of a person but wasn’t particularly excited by that. Then I worked through all my stamps and came across a silhouette dragon, various cogs, flowers, and flourishes. One of the other design team members had used a floral theme, so that was out. Finally, I came across my well-used, but long-neglected, Stampscapes stamps from way back in the 1990s and decided they were perfect for the challenge:

silhouette lake and boatman

Used for this silhouette scene

  • Stampscapes wood-mounted rubber stamps:
    • Lakeside Cove Lg. [049G]
    • Row boat [166A]
  • Memento inkpad: Tuxedo Black (stamped twice to get black imprint)
  • Letraset / Winsor & Newton Promarkers: Midnight Blue / China Blue / Ice Grey 5 / Flexmarker Blue Grey 4

There’s plenty of white space around the image (it’s a 5×7″ card blank) to make it clean and simple, and I thought that adding any sort of sentiment would spoil the border. It means the card can be used for any occasion with the right personalisation inside.

  1. Neil this stamp scape is absolutely fabulous! So, so much detail in your beautiful silhouetted scene. A great example of how CAS doesn’t always mean ‘quick’ I’m sure, but so worth it. I could look at your card for hours, so much wonderful detail!
