LIM DT: Spots OLC

This one-layer card challenge is a little easier than the last one. The theme is ‘spots’ over at Less is More. I’ve previously used a stencil for making a multi-coloured spotty card, so wanted to do something different this time. After digging through my rubber stamp collection I found a semicircular spotty pattern by Magenta. It just so happens that after having it for years, this was the first time it had been used. I made two cards:

The first uses the stamp shaded with Squeezed Lemonade in the centre and Mustard Seed distress inks on the edges to create the fading illusion. I then used my stamp positioner to stamp the sentiment several times to build up the contrast. Finally, I added some yellow stickles to the outer ring of spots to add a bit of bling.

For the second card, I chose to stamp with Versamark and heat emboss everything in WOW! white super fine embossing powder. I used a kraft card as I like the look of white on brown. I then added some shadows to the sentiment with a black pen, didn’t like it, so outlined the rest of the lettering. I liked that even less, so it wasn’t my featured card!

Both sentiments are from the Brushed Sentiments set from Darkroom Door.

  1. I love both cards, Neil. The first looks great with the two shades of yellow. Very simple, but lots of impact. I love the split image with the sentiment in between on the second, and I am a big fan of white on kraft. I think that the black outline on the sentiment is very effective.
