One layer card time at Less is More with a diamonds theme. This is what it says, with no die cuts, embellishments, and all completed on the folded cardstock. It’s harder than it seems and today’s example was the third time I tried the same technique!
First off, stamp the sentiment onto a piece of post-it note and cut it out. Then, using a stamp positioner, stamp the sentiment directly to the card blank using Majestic Violet archival ink a couple of times or until you have a crisp, solid image. Give the ink a quick blast from a heat tool just to heat set it (else it might smudge).
Place your mask over the sentiment and use a harlequin stencil to add blended Wilted Violet distress ink. I went over the same area a couple of times to get a deep colour. Move the stencil to cover the area you’ve just inked and very lightly blend colour into the stencil. This is how I got the alternating deep/light diamond pattern.
Used in this card
- Dovecraft Premium Butterfly Kisses clear stamp set (from Craft Label)
- Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Harlequin mini-stencil [THMS016]
- Ranger Archival Ink: Majestic Violet
- Ranger / Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Wilted Violet
Love this, Neil. I love your choice of color, the crispness of the sentiment, and the varying depth of color in the stenciled diamonds.
