LIM DT Card: Scribbles, Drips and Splats

I’m delighted to be able to share that I have been accepted on to the Less Is More Challenge Design Team. You’ll all know that I have recently been taking part in their challenges after a long hiatus, and it’s an honour to join the DT. You can find the fortnightly challenges here, and a little more info on the card(s) I make following the theme here on my blog. You may even get to see the outtakes…

I’ve used one of my most favourite techniques for my card for the splats – get your Distress Stains out, make sure the tip is nice and juicy and then firmly tap against your page (actually, you thump it down with a bit of force). Watch where the spatter goes!

The card below was in fact the first card I made for the challenge. I didn’t like much it as it was a little too controlled, relying on stamps for the splatters. I also think the analogous colour scheme isn’t all that exciting. Hence the second go above!

used for these cards

  • Ranger / Tim Holtz Distress Stains: Mermaid Lagoon / Wilted Violet / Fossilized Amber / Festive Berries / Twisted Citron
  • Ranger Archival Ink: Jet Black / Vibrant Fuchsia / Cactus Flower / Majestic Violet
  • Darkroom Door rubber stamps: Brushed Sentiments [DDRS161]
  • Darkroom Door rubber stamps: Paint Splats [DDRS124]

  1. Welcome to the team Neil! We are absolutely thrilled and delighted that you agreed to join us. Well, you’ve kicked started your inspiration for us with one of the most fun techniques there is! You just can’t beat a good old bash with a distress stain, can you? Love how you managed to control those splatters though. It was great to see the ‘out-take’ as well, although to be honest it looks fab too. I’m looking forward to working with you and seeing your incredible talent at work in each challengexx

  2. Wow! Proper splats. Love both your cards but I do agree your main one is better. Isn’t it exciting to be part of the team?

  3. Welcome to the team, Neil! It’s wonderful to have you creating with us. I LOVE your card. I must say, that I don’t own and Distress Stains and now I need them so I can do this. It must be so cathartic and perfect for the state of affairs in our world right now!! Love your color choice for the border and the font of the sentiment. Fantastic LIM Designer debut!

  4. Welcome on board, Neil ! We are very delighted to have you among us. What a fabulous first inspirational card. I didn’t know this technique but I have to give it a try. Beautiful rainbow colours for your CAS card !
