Art Journal Page: Pick A Stick Challenge [February]

IMG_6927

I’ve been working hard on other projects and it’s been a while since I’ve had time to journal. Consequently, I’m two weeks behind on my Wanderlust course and also finishing this layout some two weeks after the challenge was set. For the uninitiated, the Pick-A-Stick Challenge group posts a monthly challenge with ten journaling prompts, which are drawn at random and have to be completed in order. It’s a great way to stretch your creativity.

Step 3: Add foil
Coloured with alcohol inks/plain self-adhesive foil

Step 4: Cut or rip the page
Well I didn’t want to do that – I’d already completed pages either side of this spread, so I added torn paper instead.

Step 5: Add metal
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Compass Coin

Step 6: Use a Gel Print or Deli-paper scribble
I’ve had some Gelli prints literally hanging around, so was pleased to use one!

Step 7: Use a napkin
Onion rings napkins from Tiger, matte napkin decoupage glue

Step 8: Add dots/stars and/or a shape
I added some of the hexagon die cuts, and stars using stencil and embossing paste.

Step 9: Add wings
Acetate transparency cut and embossed with Sizzix/Tim Holtz Layered Butterfly, coloured with alcohol inks

Step 10: Draw in wet paint
I added gesso to some of the honeycomb – and struggled to write in it before it dried!
