Bit of a ying yang thing going on with this one. Starting with the simple ‘S’, join the top of one to the bottom of the S on the row below – it helps if the curves finish on the right angle (about 60 degrees?). Shading a bit tricky, but choose one to fill in and follow the space round.
So simple I’m sure someone else has done it already… Lots of variations possible on this one, two of which I’ve popped on the pattern for your consideration.
I think this one is a bit of a retro pattern, but the steps are all mine. It could almost be Curly Braces Five!
Ok, so I wasn’t a child in the sixties, but Flower Power inspired this entry into the Passion for Promarkers Challenge Week 99. The stamped images were from a set of clear stamps from Woodware, with the border and text drawn freehand. I just love the bright colours, not a palette I normally use!
Passion for Promarkers Challenge Week 99 theme: ‘for a teenager’. This DL sized card is my original design. The black base of the skateboard is wet’n’dry very fine sandpaper adhered to the card with Glossy Accents (a glue stick just didn’t do the job). The wheels and graffiti were drawn freehand, coloured with ProMarkers and given white highlights with white gel pen. The wheels are mounted on foam pads for a bit of depth.
I started this bracelet in a workshop on freestyle peyote and some six hours later decided it was finished. The organic nature of the design allows for more and more to be added, so an end point has to be called at some point! I’m pleased with my first effort, but think I will use less contrasting tones for my next one, and perhaps not start with such small seed beads (they made for a very slow start!). I’m also going to need a sample wrist size for my starting length as mine are a little on the large size for a woman’s bracelet… Feedback and offers to purchase appreciated 😉
A completed double page spread in my Moleskine art journal. I always gesso my Moleskine pages as they seem to be very absorbent otherwise. The background was created with Ranger’s Adirondack Color Wash sprayed onto the page, spritzed with water and then allowed to dry. At a recent art journaling workshop we were encouraged to ‘describe something’. My background reminded me of wonderful space nebulae pictures, so I chose to describe ‘Space’.
Another card for the weekly Passion for Promarkers challenge – this week the theme is ‘fit for a princess’ [Week 98]. I paid for a digistamp princess from Tiddlyinks as I couldn’t find my ideal princess for free. The castle and the frog are both drawn freehand. The sky and grass background were airbrushed using ProMarkers and Letrajet tool. I’m rather pleased with the result, and it’s going to be sent as a birthday card to our young princess friend 🙂

This is my first attempt at applying lead strip to glass and then painting to give the stained glass effect. The design was freestyle trial and error. The mirror is 20x20cm (8x8in) square. Of course, photographing a mirror without appearing in it turns out to be quite tricky – I think I will have another go in better light. In the meantime, I’m sure you get the idea! Following a request left on my blog, I’ve spent the evening playing with typographical elements other than curly braces! This one starts off with the brilliant question mark… and it appears again in steps 2, 4 and reversed in 5. Hmmm, wonder where I came up with the name 😉
