Day Six: what happens when you mix zigzags with curvaceous lines? Fans and peacock tails! Or at least that’s what happened when I tried it late one evening… I think the shading makes this one zing.

Day Five: playing with triangles again today resulted in something akin to layered baubles. Or odd shaped onions. Or may be several cyclopses laying on their sides. Or strange flying saucers. Any how, it’s today’s offering for tangling fun 🙂

Day Four: almost as painful as treading on one of those Danish bricks that inspired this simple pattern. My wrist started aching after drawing three panels of tiny circles! The rule for this one is to stick to the traditional brick sizes when drawing in your grid in step two. Those that like to tangle in colour will like the shading opportunities presented here.

Day Three: ok, I was sort of hungry when I played with this pattern. It looks pretty simple and random, and it is. But there was a sort of rule I was trying to stick to: start with a nobble, squiggle, end with a nobble. Draw your next nobble by the one you’ve just finished and squiggle again. Ideally, if you stick to the rule, your nobbles should always be in pairs. I clearly didn’t manage to stick to the rules… must have been the hunger 😉

Day Two: simply zig zag lines. Sort of similar to ‘Jump’ but this one doesn’t have the verticals. Lots of different ways to shade this one 🙂

Day One: a touch of ancient Greece for this one. I started playing with triangles as I don’t think there are enough triangle-based tangle patterns out there… filling in the gaps led me to this geometric pattern.
Tomorrow’s tangle pattern: ‘Zigazigah’.
This is a pattern based on the stone and flint work that forms part of the tower to Holt Methodist Church in Norfolk.
This tangle pattern is named after the stretch of the River Soar that runs through Leicester. The embankment was renovated some years ago, and incorporated new railings containing this pattern. I’ve included my photo of them below. I also declare this to be my 50th tangle pattern!
I developed this tangle pattern playing with ways of connecting corners of a set of squares in a grid. The name comes from combining Flowers with Squares.
Completely off the wall creativity here – not sure where this one came from at all! 100% original pattern. Hopefully you can see it’s based on padlocks and keyholes…
