Over at Less is More this week, the challenge is a colour one: to use red, raspberry and grey. The colours are complementary but clearly restricted! I unearthed an old Creative Expressions stamp of a daisy, which I thought could double up as an echinacea cone-flower which suits the colour scheme. I chose Warm Grey 3 ProMarker, along with Hot Pink and Carmine to match the screen colours set by LIM. I used the red to shade the inner part of the petals which doesn’t show up overly well in the pic…

Review: The Paperbox
I’ve just received a sample box of paper and card from The Paperbox Ltd after they asked me to review them. Here’s my initial review (will do ‘in use’ reviews in future posts):

Commission: Mixed Media painting
So you know that I’ll be redecorating my lounge and that I have already completed this artwork for one of the walls. It was inevitable that I would be commissioned to do a second piece for another wall in the room, so here’s what I created…
Though I tried for a random background, swiping the paint on with a palette knife, it ended up almost as a mirror image along the horizon line. I think it resembles a cityscape, complete with a Ferris wheel!

Altered Art commission: Love Cherish Care
We’re about to redecorate our lounge in shades of grey-blue, so I was commissioned to create another altered art canvas similar to this one, but with a matching blue as the main colour. It’s taken a day to do and has laser-cut, 3D printed, buttons, wood and polyurethane-cast elements as well as a few embellishments from my collection.

Challenge Card: 2-4-1
It’s challenge time again. Over at Less Is More, the end of month challenge is ‘big and small’. And over at Passion for Promarkers, the theme is ‘favourite colour combo’. I’ve been busy on other projects this week, so I’ve merged the two challenges for this 6×6″ make:

Altered Art: Chuck it all on 2 – Dream
You’ll have seen my first mini-canvas a couple of weeks ago… During this week I have been working on a 12×12″ version of my chuck it all on altered art piece. Here’s ‘Dream’:

Felted Crochet Bowl
Whilst teaching my improver’s crochet class over at Quorn Country Crafts last week, I was asked to look into making felted wool bowls. So, this week, I got hold of the wool, dusted off my 9mm crochet hook and got to working double crochets in ever-increasing circles. A quick hot wash in the washing machine with a couple of towels and the process was complete. I need to make a wider diameter bowl to start with, but I didn’t have enough wool on this occasion to go much bigger. I hope to have a class making them in the autumn programme.

Trimcraft Maker: Spiin yarn colour-block scarf
As normal, when it goes quiet on here, it’s because I’ve been working away on a project behind the scenes. This time it’s a Tunisian Crochet Colour-block Scarf using Spiin yarn:

Altered Art: Chuck it all on
I’m a fan of Finnabair and her combination of collage and assemblage in her mixed media pieces. There are numerous other artists following the style, and plenty of videos on YouTube showing step-by-step ways of working. Silly old me – I watched one and thought I could remember it as I did my own… This wasn’t the case, so this is pretty much all my own work. It’s the result of a couple of hours work, including cutting out the various chipboard/greyboard elements with my laser cutter. I’ve chucked everything at it!

Less Is More: a CAS thank you card
CAS? It stands for ‘Clean And Simple’ and refers to a card that has plenty of whitespace around the elements. Ideally a one layer, no embellishment type of card, it is perfect for the Less Is More challenge site. And it usually is anything but simple to make. This time, the theme is ‘more’ – we did ‘less’ last time. Here’s my take on the challenge:
