An original design born from playing with octagons. Try shading the border for a variation.

Curly Braces Too – tangle pattern
I’m having fun with curly brackets! This is another original design, possibly a tangleation of my own Curly Brace pattern, but different enough to have it’s own name
Octagonal – tangle pattern
Ok, so there might be easier ways of constructing this tangle pattern, but I was playing with octagons and this is what resulted. Looking at it gives me a headache after a while…
Curly Brace – tangle pattern
This original pattern starts with curly brackets (also known as braces). It’s easier to turn the page to do the horizontal brackets in step 2. Lots of opportunity to shade here.
Swags – tangle pattern
This original design uses the main motif in an offset pattern – I found it easier to do each motif in turn as shown. Lots of shading opportunities to make individual motifs stand up against the others.
Beanpodz – tangle pattern
A day at the allotment inspired this original design – dreaming of shelling my borlotti beans! The pattern also reminds me of metal straps that are used for reinforcing corners and suchlike.
Florem – tangle pattern
This is an original design, named with the Latin word from which the word ‘flower’ is derived.
Jugenstil – tangle pattern
Another Art Nouveau inspired tangle pattern. It helps to turn the page round to do the ‘top’ layer. Keep your corners curved and your arches asymmetrical.
Wellenstil – tangle pattern
I’ve been inspired by Art Nouveau patterns this week. The arches frame the tangle pattern ‘Grass’ nicely.
Zentangle mini-canvases
Thought I’d share my mini-canvas zentangle inspired art pieces. The canvas and easel are packaged by Reeves and I got them for £1 each from The Range (also available in other online stores). They are 7cm square. It was quite tricky to draw on the weave of the canvas so I used a thicker pen than normal. I also found a blending stump was required to evenly spread the pencil shading.
