I don’t think enough is made of the double punctuation emphasis that is ‘!?’. Is it possible to have an exclamatory question? And if you’re a grammar purist, which way round should they go? Instead of answering those questions, I made a tangle pattern from them.

Tangle Pattern: Abacus
This is a relatively simple tangle pattern, which could probably be drawn in a couple of different ways for speed. That said, it’ll work well as a space filler or, indeed, as a border pattern:
Tangle Pattern: Balls Squared
This is the next instalment in a short series of new tangle patterns. I like the geometry of this one, with the curves interplaying with the curves. The negative space is quite pleasing as well, with a cross appearing as the pattern is tiled. Below are a sample card and two 3D versions of the pattern etched into wood.
Tangle Pattern: Bs & Ds
I’ve been busy designing some more line patterns, and this is the first of a few. I thought it would be helpful to see a ‘real life’ use of the patterns I design. I’ve used a 4″ square Strathmore Artist Tile in grey for my background, adding my pattern and embellishing with black and white coloured pencil. The tile is mounted on a 6×6″ hammered card. Turned out ok, I think 🙂
Tangle Pattern: Kamloops
The third and final instalment of patterns gleaned from a recent holiday in Canada. I believe this was a carpet in our overnight hotel in Kamloops. It’s a bit tricky to draw… make sure there is a gap between curls in step one, this is where the opposing curls fit in step 2. To get to a repeating pattern, draw the ‘hearts’ in rows first, and then offset the fill-ins. Anyone else reminded of TripAdvisor logo?
