LIM Challenge Card: Out of Focus

Here’s another clean and simple card for the Less Is More Challenge blog. This time the theme is ‘out of focus’ and suggestions were bokeh, airbrushed backgrounds and watercolour stamping. I chose to go down the alcohol ink background, a suitably defocused technique. Stamped over is a sentiment block of text, cut out to make a tag. Finally, a sentiment stamp direct to card finished off the design:

LIM Challenge Card: Butterfly Inchies

A quick, clean and simple, one layer card for the Less is More challenge #416. One layer cards are exactly that – no fudging allowed, no mats and careful stamping and colouring. Mistakes mean starting over… Clean and simple means leaving plenty of white space. This time’s challenge also called for no sentiment. Here’s my take:

I almost put shading around the squares and then thought that would make it look more than one layer! Darkroom Door Butterfly Post collage stamp stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and then coloured with ProMarkers.

Challenge: Colour Palette

Over at Less is More this week, the challenge is a colour one: to use red, raspberry and grey. The colours are complementary but clearly restricted! I unearthed an old Creative Expressions stamp of a daisy, which I thought could double up as an echinacea cone-flower which suits the colour scheme. I chose Warm Grey 3 ProMarker, along with Hot Pink and Carmine to match the screen colours set by LIM. I used the red to shade the inner part of the petals which doesn’t show up overly well in the pic…

Less Is More: a CAS thank you card

CAS? It stands for ‘Clean And Simple’ and refers to a card that has plenty of whitespace around the elements. Ideally a one layer, no embellishment type of card, it is perfect for the Less Is More challenge site. And it usually is anything but simple to make. This time, the theme is ‘more’ – we did ‘less’ last time. Here’s my take on the challenge:

ProMarker Challenge: Easel Card

It’s time to come clean… I don’t like making fancy cards. This week’s challenge at Passion for ProMarkers is to use ‘fancy folds’. Thus this is outside of my comfort zone, so I decided I would do the most basic fancy fold, an easel card. I wanted to keep the border on the background paper, so mitred the squares. I carried that principle through to the sentiment, but doing it again I would have embossed it in white.

Less is More: One Layer Card

Another challenge blog, another challenge! This time, it’s the Less Is More challenge to do a one layer card with the focal point off centre. In card making, one layer cards are quite tricky – you have one time to get it right, and if you’re layering or positioning stamps it’s easy to misprint and have to start all over again! Of course, you only get to see the final take…

ProMarker Challenge: Spoiled Dog?

Another weekly challenge has landed over at Passion for ProMarkers. I was pleased to be in the top five chosen submissions in last week’s challenge, so I thought I’d have another go. Gotta be in it to win it after all. The theme is ‘animals’. Some time ago I encouraged people to use the tag #nbu – never been used – in an effort to use that crafty stash that once purchased languishes unloved in a drawer or box. This stamp is one such example…
