This month I have the gorgeously summery ‘Sandy Toes’ collection from Kaisercraft to play with. I also got sent a Candy Box Crafts Bird Box Clock Kit to work with… So I combined them both to make this beach hut themed clock.
For the hut, I left one panel of the roof unglued so that I could still access the clock mechanism. I covered the roof panels with the wood side of the Paper Surf sheet, and the walls with the weathered wood side of the Paper Sunshine sheet. The bunting comes from the Sandy sheet glued to paper wrapped florists wire. The clock face is cut from Flip Flops, and the numbers whitewashed with Picket Fence Distress Stains. The clock hands are ‘rusted’ with Tarnished Brass Distress Stains. Paper panels are edged with Vintage Photo or Pumice Stone Distress Ink. The roof signs are one of the ribbons from the bottom of one of the sheets, stuck down onto lollipop sticks coloured with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.
The sign on the back is from the Beach Bum sheet, distressed with Vintage Photo before being enamelled with clear gloss UTEE and rubbed over again with Vintage Photo (faux rusted enamel effect). The surfboards are backed with more of the Paper Surf wood, and fronted with either Paper Surf or the back of the Sea Shells sheet. The windbreak is made from kebab sticks cut to 2.5″ high and wrapped with sections of Sea Shells. The towel uses an offcut of the Flip Flop sheet.
I’ve tried to use the top two thirds of the Ocean sheet as a scenic background, with the decking cut to shape and emphasising the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote.
Neil, you’ve done an excellent job with this! What an adorable project! This is a wonderful beach themes creation!
