Next month’s art journal session’s theme is ‘Washi tape’. This versatile patterned translucent sticky tape is ideal for decorating pages, but can also be used as a masking tape. Here are two pages for your creative inspiration.
In the first, I have used myriad colours of distress ink over tape lengths which are added and removed at random. I’ve highlighted the horizontal lines with some faux bleaching through a lined stencil.
In the second, I bought some ‘lace’ Washi tape – this is cut to shape and forms the base line for the page. I’ve traced a stencil and then coloured in the circles and blacked out the borders, trying to use the same colours as in the tape itself.
