I spent this morning playing with the new WOW! stamps, combined with a Tim Holtz 6×6″ configurations box, and came up with this:
You should be able to see it in all its 3D gorgeousness at the Wow! stand at Hobbycrafts, NEC Birmingham, 22nd-25th March.
Here’s how I did it:
Prepare the configurations box. I removed two of the thinner sections to make the larger square recess. I then stuck down the remaining boxes with double sided tape to the base and sides. To fill in the gaps, I used acrylic modelling paste. Smooth it over with a damp fingertip or palette knife and clean off sides with a baby wipe. Allow to dry.
I then coated the box and lid with a couple of coats of gesso – only the surfaces that will be visible need to be covered. Allow to dry. I covered the lid with a layer of gold metallic acrylic paint, then a specialist crackle glaze before adding a layer of cream emulsion (allowing each layer to dry).
For the facing surfaces, I used a Versamark pad to ink up and then two layers of WOW! Metallic Brass embossing powder, heat setting between. For the insides, I stamped, embossed and cut card to size, sticking it in with double sided tape. Similarly, stamp and emboss the items, cutting them out with a narrow border.
Most of the items are supported on card posts made by coiling around a thin brush handle and gluing tight. Cut down the ends and fold back – trim as necessary.

Cute! I would have played with this for HOURS as a little girl.
