AAA Cards DT: Fall/leaves

We’re still in meteorological autumn (just) and there’s an apt theme to the next challenge over at AAA Cards‘ clean and simple challenge blog: fall/leaves. I’m writing earlier in the year, so I don’t know whether there have been gales and thrashing rain or an Indian summer. However, I can pretty much guarantee there was the traditional leaf-changing-colours period and it’s to this I pay tribute with my take on the theme:

Fall/leaves sympathy card

I stamped the image in water-based ink and, after cropping it to size, coloured it with alcohol markers adding shading for some depth. Most of the shading was done by adding extra layers of the same colour once the previous layer had dried. I wanted to mat the coloured panel onto black card to create a narrow border but clean and simple card-making demands a minimum of layers. Instead, I blended distress ink around the edges for a little contrast before sticking it to the card blank. Finally, I stamped the sentiment panel and mounted it onto the card with foam pads. I’m thinking this would work as a sympathy card?

  1. what a cool stamp and I do love the jumble of leaves – just like what happens in real life when Autumn strikes for real. I agree that it makes a fabulous thinking of you/sympathy card
