I’m a bit behind on posting my Bible journaling templates, sorry about that. First up, last month’s session was based on verses that were ‘by request’. I received four nominated verses and chose the last to complete the set. I also admit to rejigging one of my older templates, so you may recognise it.
I did a little experimentation with the first request, scoring the outline onto the thinnest plywood I could find with the aim of making bookmarks. I tried out (in order) ProMarker alcohol-ink markers, coloured pencils and Inktense watercolours to colour in the illustration, and also played with different varnishes too. It seems the light scoring also takes down the risk of wet media bleeding into the edges of the cuts, but it has still happened in places.
The remainder of the illustrations were completed with coloured pencils and colouring through stencils to create some background. I overdid the circles in the Deuteronomy 6 one, losing the contrast of the lettering against the background – the bottom half is much better imho.
Used for these illustrations by request
- NIV black hardback journaling Bible
- Faber Castell Polychromos colouring pencils
- Derwent Inktense paint pans set
- Letraset / Winsor & Newton ProMarkers
- DecoArt Americana spray varnish – matte and gloss
- Stencils – various
- Sakura Pigma Micron black pigment pens (various sizes)
- Glowforge laser cutter
The templates, as normal, are available as a free printable download from my store.
