It’s a colour challenge this week over at AAA Cards’ clean and simple challenge blog. Our task is to choose a side (of the colour wheel) – either hot or cold. Most of my art includes warm colours, so I thought this time I would take on the cold side. This meant choosing purples, blues and greens and I turned to the distress palette for my inspiration card:
Used for this cold card
- Inky Doodles clear stamps: Print Backgrounds 2
- Ranger / Tim Holtz Distress Oxides: Dusty Concord, Stormy Sky, Peeled Paint
- Ranger / Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Milled Lavender
- Sentiment stamp: self-designed and laser cut
- Stix2 Anything A4 Mount n Stamp foam
- A6 card blank
The Inky Doodles stamps build up the pattern and careful placement allows different colours to be used. I did this on a strip of white card, cut to the pattern and then edged with the distress ink for a bit of contrast. I couldn’t find a sentiment stamp that suited my card/aesthetic so I designed and cut my own.
love your card Neil, how it tricks you to see hot colours but also cold colours, it’s amazing
Beautiful card–lots of detail in all the colors!
