Challenge time again over at AAA Cards and the theme for the fortnight is ‘along the edge’ with the optional twist of ‘under the sea’. As always, the card should be clean and simple – minimum layers and embellishments and lots of empty/white space. Here’s my design team card for your inspiration:
Used for this under the sea card
- Stampers Anonymous / Tim Holtz mini stencil: Rays [THMS003]
- Ranger / Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Mermaid Lagoon
- Ranger Inkssentials Cut’n’Dry pen nib
- Ranger blending tool & foam
- Stix2 Anything stencil tape
Making notes
Mask off the border area and gently and lightly blend a layer of distress ink. Using the mini stencil add more ink through it for the light rays at the surface of the ‘sea’. Using a torn piece of paper as a mask, add more ink in layers working down the card. Add details with the pen nib, picking up ink direct from the ink pad, and work some of the ink off on a piece of scrap paper to try and match the ink colour depth at each layer. Peel away the masking tape and hey presto, a completed card.
Fabulous edge with so much interest, and all on a small edge and one layer.!it’s awesome!
