As previously mentioned, Christmas in July is a thing in the crafting community. This week at AAA Cards challenge blog, the theme is ‘anything CAS goes’ with the optional twist of Christmas (pets) in July. I’m not a fan of the whole Christmas thing, especially starting in July, and am renowned for being a little bah humbug about the whole thing! So this card suitably sums up my state of mind…
I started by stamping the dog, then hand-drawing the Santa hat trying to emulate the sketchy style of the dog. I designed the sentiment stamp and engraved and cut it out on my Glowforge laser cutter from laser safe rubber. Then I coloured everything with alcohol markers so that I could build up the shading. Oh, and I used a stamping platform to get the stamping nicely black, stamping several times, reinking each time.
Used for this bah humbug card
- Stampers Anonymous / Tim Holtz rubber stamp: Crazy Dogs
- Sentiment: self-designed and manufactured
- Memento ink pad: Tuxedo Black
- Letraset / Winsor & Newton ProMarkers:
- Cool Grey: 1 / 3 / 4
- Black
- Lipstick Red / Berry Red
- Yellow / Gold
- Sakura Pigma Micron black pigment pen (08)
- Stix2 cling rubber stamp mount
- C6 card blank
Haha, that’s how I feel most times at Christmas, fab card and so so funny
Ha ha! Love this, and so clever to add the Santa hat. Thanks so much for the comment on my blog and your tips for using embossing past xx
