Less is More challenge blog has just published their next clean and simple card challenge – a one layer card with the stipulation of being ‘off-centre’. The one layer bit is the challenge, as it negates the use of die cuts, embellishments and rather obviously, layers. I’ve used masking to ‘layer’ my one layer card…
I stamped the pen nibs first in archival ink, before masking them off and stamping the music notes ‘behind’ and peeling off the masking pieces. I coloured the music score with layers of Distress Stain, and the nibs with the metallic Stains. I hand wrote the sentiment to finish the visual pun.
Used in this off-centre card
- Darkroom Door Eclectic cling rubber stamp: Pen Nibs [DDES010]
- Artemio cling rubber stamp: Music Score [10006029]
- Ranger archival ink: Jet Black
- Ranger / Tim Holtz Distress Stains: Old Paper / Tarnished Brass / Brushed Pewter
- Sakura Pigma Micron black pigment pen (03)
Great card Neil!!
Super card design Neil ! Sid
I really love those pen images and I love the way you colored them. Fab card for our challenge.
I love this, the graphic allure is perfect.
ps. My dad was a musician and scratched his notes with these nibs 😀
OH! my goodness, my first visit to you because I was so very impressed with this card, beautiful work, and even more impressed that you wrote the sentiment yourself. Definitely a WOW card and inspirational.
Hi. As a beginner calligrapher I was so fond on your card, than I copied it. Hope you don’t mind.
Love this brilliant card Neil! Your handwritten sentiment is perfect with those great pens!! Take care! 🙂
I am in love with this card Neil! I love how gender neutral it is, but I especially love the vintage nod!
This is AMAZING! Not sure in which way I am more amazed…that you “hand-wrote” the sentiment, or that you cut out a mask for all of those pens! Fabulous job, it’s one of my favorites!
