Another clean and simple card for you, featured in AAA Cards latest challenge: one layer with an optional extra of a big sentiment. The mood board for this week’s challenge included hearts, I’m sure, in time for Valentine’s Day. I looked out my only stamp to feature a heart, hoping it wasn’t too fussy for a CAS card, and used it along with a big sentiment for my card:
I printed the image in Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide so that I had a nice crisp and opaque outline. I used Victorian Velvet Distress Ink as a watercolour to fill in the roses and leaves and shading around the outline. Some colour does pull in from wetting the distress oxide ink, but not enough to bleed or smudge excessively. I printed the sentiment initially in Vintage Photo Distress Ink before cussing as it didn’t have enough contrast against the pink. I really must try before I commit, or use a stamping platform!
This being a one layer card, I couldn’t add an overlay to cover the mistake, so instead, I stamped over the top with black archival ink. The stamp is red rubber, so I couldn’t see where the previous image was so had to wing it. The offset means it works (just) as a shadow for the black sentiment. I used a 7×7″ card black for the clean and simple look despite the relatively large main stamp.
Used in this one layer card:
- Stampendous Repositionable Cling Stamp: Cling Cherish Heart [CRW111]
- Darkroom Door Rubber Stamps: Brushed Sentiments [DDRS161]
- Ranger / Tim Holtz Distress Oxide: Victorian Velvet
- Ranger / Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Victorian Velvet / Vintage Photo
- Ranger Archival Ink: Jet Black
Sucha pretty and comforting card I am sure.
Wonderful heart and perfect big sentiment!
Beautiful card Neil. Love the shadow effect on your sentiment.
