Don’t forget that in the crafting world, new Christmas releases occur from any point in June to the end of July. I’m not entirely sure why, but, presumably, it’s like fashion, a season in advance. Thus, the Less is More challenge this time is ‘Christmas in July’. I’ve created two cards: initially, the watercoloured card, which I decided wasn’t clean and simple enough, and then the snowflake and sentiment.
Used to make these cards
- Penny Black Slapstick Stamps: Sweet Nativity (from 2009)
- Ranger Archival Ink: Jet Black
- Winsor & Newton watercolours
- Paperbox matte card: Dusky Pink
- Stampers Anonymous / Tim Holtz rubber stamps
- Mini Holidays [CMS066]
- Grunge Flakes [CMS098]
- Ranger Archival Ink: Cobalt / Shadow Grey
- Ranger Stickles glitter glue: Stardust
I like both cards, and I do think the nativity is CAS, but the snowflake is ultimate CAS! Great job with our challenge.
If I have a stamp which I think is a bit too big for a CAS card, I use a larger card base. I don’t think it’s really cheating…is it? Anyway I think yours is super. Your snowflake one is pretty cool too x
People have such varying definitions of CAS don’t they but for me it’s definitely about giving an image space to breath and a minimum of layers. So your nativity scene ticks my boxes at any rate!! Anyway, both lovely, and score two for the stash! Vicky 🙂
I love both cards! I used a larger stamp on my entry too, but I think it there is space around it, it can still be CAS. I often think the same with regard to ‘white space’ that isn’t white – sometimes a coloured base just works better for a stamp, but it doesn’t make it less CAS. Love the foiled snowflake – beautifully minimalist!
