It’s a colour theme at our favourite Clean And Simple challenge blog, Less is More. I can’t remember who suggested them, but the colours this time around are pink, grey and gold. Here are two one layer cards using the colours, with the peacock being the one I chose for the DT post.
I don’t think there is a better way to add gold to a card than to use embossing powder, but the resulting metallic sheen is a pig to photograph. I hope you can see that the peacock feather ‘eyes’ are highlighted with embossed gold. The mandala is a bit more obvious!
Peacock
- Inkadinkaclings rubber stamp from Inkadinkadoo: Papercut Peacock Cling
- Ranger Archival Ink: Vibrant Fuchsia / Watering Can / Jet Black
- WOW! Embossing Powder: Rich Gold Metallic Regular
- Sentiment stamp: own design
- Nuvo clear embossing ink pen
I blended the ink colours wet-into-wet on the stamp before stamping the image onto the DL card. I used the embossing pen to pick out the feather ‘eyes’ and then embossed them with the gold powder.
Mandala
- Creative Expressions Singles Rubber Stamp: Henna Mosaic UMS065
- Versamark ink pad
- WOW! Embossing Powder: Rich Gold Metallic Regular
- Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens: Middle Purple Pink / Cold Grey III
Layer pen strokes wet-on-dry to create depth of shading. The embossing powder resists the ink if you’re careful, so you can colour over the lines.
Your cards are both gorgeous. The cascading peacock tail is so elegant and I love the placement of the sentiment. The mandala is so spectacular on its own in those wonderful colors.
Two fabulous cards Neil. You’re there, there’s something really special about gold embossing powders and you’ve chosen the perfect stamps to highlight it.
