It’s a new theme over at Less is More Challenge blog – this time it’s a colour challenge. We’re looking for clean and simple cards with Fuchsia, Yellow and Grey as the colour combo. There’re plenty of cards from the design team to give you inspiration, and there’s a prize drawn from all the entries at the end of the challenge. I’ve done three cards this time – I hope you like them!
Above:
- ProMarkers: Fuchsia Pink / Yellow / Ice grey 3
- Stampendous Cling Stamp: Grunge Birthday [CRH302]
- Ranger Archival Ink: Jet Black
- The Robin’s Nest Dew Drops: Orchid
Draw across the page with the chisel tip of the ProMarker, varying the line thickness by tilting forward and back as you draw a wavy line. Finish by stamping the sentiment and adding embellishments.
Below:
- Ranger Dylusions Paint: Funky Fuchsia / Lemon Zest / Slate Grey
- Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress ink: Mustard Seed
- Ranger Archival ink: Cactus Flower
- Stampendous Cling Stamp: Grunge Birthday [CRH302]
Daub paint strokes with a small flat edge brush, making sure you dry paint between colours. Mask off edges and shade the centre with Mustard Seed distress ink (Hickory Smoke may have worked better?). Optional: wipe off distress ink from acrylic paint using a semi-dry wipe. Stamp sentiment in coordinating colour.
Above:
- Bazzill cardstock – various
- Stampendous Cling Stamp: Grunge Birthday [CRH302]
- Ranger Archival Ink: Cactus Flower/Jet Black
- Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Hickory Smoke
Use up some scrap cardstock – I wished I’d distressed the edge of each colour before I’d stuck them all down, so had to make do with just using the hickory smoke on the outside edge. I got a darker shade of pink on the sentiment by not cleaning the stamp of Jet Black from the previous use and adding Cactus Flower over the top.
Three great cards Neil. I’m not brave enough to make my own backgrounds, yours are fab.

I love your hand-done backgrounds and the graphic look of all of your cards. Great takes on the challenge colors.
Three super pieces of inspiration Neil! Each one has a fresh, fun and funky look to it. Brilliant use of the colours xx
