Next week’s Art Journal Session has the theme ‘butterflies’. I’ve three new pages to share, but there are several in my past library that you can find using the search facility.
The first is created in Distress Stains, with clear embossed butterflies. Stamping is in Distress Oxides, which was handy when it came to tidying up the stamping, but also because they were on top of gesso meant a lot of transfer of ink to my hand. Here’s a time-lapse video of the page’s creation:
The second is a cover to a new journal and is A4 greyboard. Lots of fussy cutting of masks to build the butterfly background. It’s a bonus video in the free Mixed Up Creative Academy Art Journaling Challenge. I sealed everything with a spray varnish so that the inks were fixed and would last a little longer.
The final page was experimental as I’ve just got hold of some Distress Oxide sprays. They make for some nice blends, but it was somewhat alarming how far the overspray went! I mopped up some onto ATCs which now need to find a forever home. Using gesso on the stamp was tricky, as it tended to lift the pigment from the oxides rather than stamping paint down…
