I have a penchant for sugar-free mints, especially when they are on show at the till in an Aldi. Their ‘complimints’ come in a small lidded tin, and I have often thought how suited to altered art it would be. So, this weekend I got on with altering one, upcycling it to enclose two mini-albums.
Start by sanding off the paint – I used a Dremel with a sanding wheel attached. Polish off some of the scratches with 600 grade wet and dry sandpaper. Then it’s just the matter of making the mini-albums. I used acrylic paper, acrylic paints on a Gelli plate for backgrounds, stamping in archival ink for a little detail and then binding with a comb binder. Add pictures and ta-da, you’re done.
