The weather outside is frightful – the risk of freezing rain didn’t amount to much, but it’s cold, dark, blustery with heavy rain. As a result, I am in a toasty warm studio with pencils and pens out and doing some Bible journaling. I thought I’d take some of the less familiar scripture verses that are relevant to the Christmas story and develop some graphics to capture them in my margins.
I had a little play with some doodle illustrations on the first example, and some other more illustrative focal points on others. I continue to keep typography as my main theme, designing first on the computer before tracing and colouring into my Bible. I’m now planning to develop a series of stencils with elements specifically designed to fit Bible margins so that I might go back to my earlier hand-drawn style of journaling.
From January 2019, I’ll be holding a monthly Bible journaling session at The Studio from 7:30pm to 10pm on the second Monday of the month. We’ll be covering topics such as which materials you may find useful, and those that you won’t, as well as lettering, gradients, watercolour and sketching.
The outlines are available to download, one of the benefits of my working on the computer first. Just click on the download button and you’ll be linked to my store.
