This is the next instalment in a short series of new tangle patterns. I like the geometry of this one, with the curves interplaying with the curves. The negative space is quite pleasing as well, with a cross appearing as the pattern is tiled. Below are a sample card and two 3D versions of the pattern etched into wood.
For the 3D tiles, I recreated the pattern in Adobe Illustrator and used greyscale tones to indicate the relative depth of the engrave using my laser cutter. Each tile is 10cm square. As a result of spray painting with white paint after engraving, I managed to emphasise the depth of the engraving.
A very pleasing pattern – I particularly like the second etched example!
