The Big Dome Card (for Creative Expressions)

July’s a five Wednesday month – so you get a bonus card using this month’s stencil – once again a card made using the That Special Touch Art Deco Elements Mask. I’ve used several elements from the stencil to create this sparkling card, in combination with three of the Cosmic Shimmer Sparkling Texture Paste colours. It could just as well be a home decor piece as well 🙂

You will need:
That Special Touch Mask: Art Deco Elements
Cosmic Shimmer Sparkling Texture Paste: Apple Red / Lilac Blush / Warm Gold`
Cosmic Shimmer Cosmic White PVA Glue
Cosmic Shimmer Specialist Acrylic Glue
Foundations A4 Card: Coconut White / Kraft / Dark Ground Coffee

Mask off nearby areas with stencil tape, leaving just the ‘hands’. Cut a 5″ square of white card. Line up the stencil with the corner, and mark the corner on the masking tape.

Apply the Apple Red Sparkling Texture Paste on to the card using a spatula or palette knife and carefully peel away the stencil. Allow to dry before repeating on the opposite corner to complete the cross.

Wipe down or wash the stencil between uses as the texture paste is very tricky to remove when dry.

Repeat the same process, this time using the Lilac Blush STP into the flower shape on the stencil. You will find that the Apple Red area is raised enough to ‘hook’ the stencil on for better alignment.

Once the Lilac Blush STP is dry you can repeat the process with the Warm Gold STP. This time, there’s no overlap of wet areas, so you can complete the opposite side as well.

Once that’s all dry, cut round the shape using a border. Cut a circle of kraft card stock 7″ diameter and draw a cross from the middle – use this to line up your previous piece and mark the tip of the lilac and gold areas with a pencil.

Line up the centre element of the stencil with the marks (see picture below) and apply the Warm Gold STP through the stencil. Use a wide blade or old credit or gift card to level off the paste – again you can do opposite corners.

This shows the line up of the stencil element against the pencil marks you made earlier. Once everything is dry, rub out the pencil lines. Mount the centrepiece on with foam pads, mount the kraft circle onto a 7.5″ diameter Dark Roast Coffee circle with the Cosmic Shimmer Glue and add Cosmic White PVA dots around. Cut a dome shape from an 8″ square card and stick down your completed topper.
