Unique Giveaway #1 – round 4, the winner!

Hi all – I have drawn at random from all the marvellous entries the winner of my handmade book of tangle patterns. The winner is entry 37, Lynn Peters.

Lynn is from the USA, and replied that the hurricane had knocked out her electricity and the news of her win improved her day. Happy tangling once the lights come back on Lynn!

Thank you all for your interest and entries, it was fun to read the variety of life stories, flattery and outright begging 🙂

Unique Giveaway #1 – final chance to enter

Aside

Hi all – entries to my unique giveaway #1 will close at midnight [GMT], and I’ll post the winner tomorrow. As of an hour and twenty minutes to go, there are 43 of you in the competition. Good luck! This competition has now closed.

There’s still plenty of time to enter unique giveaway #2 – entries close at the end of 10th September, with the draw on 11th September. At the time of posting, there’s just one entry – which can be seen on my Reader Submissions gallery.

Unique Giveaway #1 – round 4

Dear readers –

I have been spectacularly unsuccessful in trying to give away this fabulous handmade book of my tangle patterns in honour of my 10,000th blog view! The idea was that a subscriber would win it, but I have now emailed three of them using the addresses submitted during subscription, and none have replied. Not sure if that’s their spam software playing up or what.

So, just a reminder of what’s available:

The cover is hand-tangled with my own designs [it’s taken ages!] and will be personalised with the initial letter of the winner’s choosing before being sealed with a gloss varnish finish. It’s a hand-crafted book [which took ages too!], with hard cover and sewn and glued spine.

Inside are colour copies of all my tangle patterns from January to June 2011, and the eight tags contain hand-drawn tangles, with tips on shading, creating patterns and a unique and unpublished, exclusive tangle pattern.

This time, please reply to this post, stating why you would like to win this fabulous prize. I’ll pick the most ‘deserving’ and post the winner on 31st August, so you have plenty of time. Hopefully this way I can actually give it away!

Summer assignment – ‘about me’ postcard

There’s just a week to go before I finally start my extended diploma in art and design course at Leicester College, and I must admit looking forward to it. We were set a summer assignment to create an A5 size postcard, with the front being a collage describing ourselves, and the reverse carrying the college address and a description of what we’d been doing over the summer.

I started work on it last week, and yesterday I finished my submission:

Patterned papers? Not likely…

This week’s challenge over at Passion for Promarkers is ‘no patterned papers’. I’m not one to dress many of my cards up with patterned papers, so this wasn’t too much of a stretch. It also gave me the chance to give my new Gorjuss rubber stamp ‘Puddles of Love’ its first outing.

UPDATE: I was in the top five for the challenge 🙂

I’ve got the sewing machine out…

I’m still doing bits ‘n’ bobs for the dining room, including sewing napkins yesterday. Since the table was clear, the sewing machine was out and I was up at silly o’clock this morning, I decided to sew up a Cath Kidston shoulder bag kit from her book ‘sew!’ Two and a half hours later, and a break for sewing machine maintenance, the bag was complete. Not bad for a novice machinist!

Kytez – tangle pattern

A Bank Holiday Weekend Special – two new tangle patterns, one today and one tomorrow. Today’s is prone to mistakes, as it’s easy to lose track of which kite is up/down and left/right. If the vertical arrows meet, then the horizontal ones don’t and vice versa. I did come up with several variations when drawing out the steps by filling in the gaps with concave diamonds and ovals using the crosses as guidelines.

Tomorrow’s tangle goodness: ‘Zippa’.
